It’s A Dog’s Christmas Day

A Perfect Christmas Day For Your Dog

We humans are so engaged with our Christmas planning. All thoughts and energy goes to creating a wonderful time for our family and friends. It is after all the time to celebrate and share.   But have you ever thought what the perfect Christmas day for your Dog would be like?  Hmmm…. maybe it would look like this.

“The whole family gets up a little later than usual. Then everybody comes and scratches my belly and tells me how much they love me. After that we all have breakfast. My breakfast is made with the same love and care as the human one and we all eat together.

My bowl is on a non slip towel on the floor so it does not slide around when I’m trying to eat. Now it’s time for a walk. I love it when my folks walk with me. I mean really walk with ME  – not just drag me along.  They stop when I need to check out a good smell, they talk to me and they are interested in my doggy world.

Ideally they have some cookies with them. One of my favorite games when we are on a walk is when they hide cookies along the way and I can impress them by finding them quickly. It’s a win/win game. I get cookies and they are proud of me because I’m so smart.
When we get back home they clean all my paws from the salt and whatever else is on the sidewalks and then I have a nap. I love napping especially when I still can hear my folks puttering around. I really don’t like being alone. After all – I am a member of my family!

Come afternoon I would be so happy if we all can go for a walk again. They stop with me when I want to greet another dog friend. A real Christmas treat is when we go to the dog park!  Here I can run with my friends and play games the two legged don’t understand. Sometimes even we don’t understand the game – but we’re having fun

Because it is Christmas my folks let me play until I drop and have had enough.
It’s time anyway – I feel I’m getting hungry. My dinner is prepared the same way as breakfast – with love and care. Everybody in the family – including me –  enjoys dinner together. It’s nap time again.

Now … THAT is a good Doggy Christmas  … why can’t Christmas be everyday???
