Miracles happens when you are in tune with your dog.
When Ricochet had to be let go of the prodigy program, her handler could have just give up. Ricochet had been trained to be a service dog but love chasing birds too much. A lot of time, money and effort when into training her. In the video, we see how from birth she was handled with one focus in mind : Being trained to assist disabled people: learning to open doors, zippers, carrying packages, helping with laundry, turning on the light are just a few of the tasks that Ricochet master rather quickly.
But Ricochet had something else in mind. Somehow, her love for water took her into a different direction. Surfing. A new name had to be created for her. Surfice Dog. She helped raises thousands of dollars for different causes and charity and bring a lot of joy and fun into some children’s life.
Quiet presence, reassuring and confident, Ricochet help paraplegic Patrick discover the pleasure of surfing and be in the water.
Ricochet is an amazing dog. But her handler is also an incredible trainer. Incredibly skilled for sure but also open and in tune with her dog true nature.
We all have expectation for our dogs but is that expectation realistic? Does it make the dog happy?
Being in tune with your dog is an intuitive part of training. When you allow your dog to develop into her true nature, miracle happens. This is not about letting your dog do whatever she likes. This is about entering into a partnership together where you and your dog can strive and meet each other expectations.
Like all of us, dogs have different personalities and are very unique, even when they are from the same breed. And like humans they thrive when encouraged to be their best. Extract from “The Dog training Guide for Humans”
Dogs do not have to be a celebrity to make a difference in our society or in our life.
I see older people being able to live alone in their home because their dog gives them a sense of purpose. Others have taken on a healthier lifestyle because of their dog. Some have discovered a new career path such as opening a doggy day care or a grooming service. And then of course, let’ s not forget people getting their life back and being more independent because of an assisting dog.

When my only child, my daughter, died 10 years ago, I didn’t think I would feel anything again. I was unemotional, like I had built a brick wall around myself to stop feeling again. Then a few years ago we found a lost dog, or rather, she found us. We decided to keep her and then found out she was pregnant. She had 8 healthy puppies, and we kept 3 of them. These dogs broke down that self-imposed brick wall and have made me care, despite myself. They taught me to live and love again. I am a better person since they came into my life and I thank God for them every single day.

You are very welcome. I am glad you like it.
I am sure you know that Ricochet in France is a game that children play by the water with a flat stone. The stone is thrown in the water paralelle to the surface and has to make a few jumps (ricochet). The one with the most jumps win.

How inspiring this is. It is so true that just as humans, dogs must follow their inner spirit too. Well done.
